Over a month ago on April 25 and 26, Kyle and I participated in the graduation ceremonies of Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah. We are very excited to be closing a big chapter in our lives and are happy that we get to do so together. Both of us will receive a Bachelor's of Science degree in Exercise Science. A premedical degree that you can use to pursue graduate programs if you would like to. So we participated in the commencement and convocation ceremonies, but we will receive our diplomas sometime in July. This is because we are both taking a couple classes over a 7 week term. We started the term on April 30th and will be finished in TWO WEEKS! June 17th is the last day of class and June 20th is the last day of finals! So June 20th we will officially be college graduates.
Luckily, both of our families were able to come and celebrate with us in April. Thursday we participated in commencement where speakers come and give us advice for life after college. Elder Tom L. Perry came and spoke and did give a very good talk. After commencement, we went out to dinner with our parents, Trudy, Mark, Mom, Dad and Roberta. We went to one of my favorite nice restaurants, La Jolla Grove. It was very yummy, and my Dad and Mark were kind enough to let us splurge and get dessert! I don't think I can go back there and never get dessert again, it was so good. And luckily, our parents enjoyed it as well. It was also nice to spend time with just our parents and show them how much we have appreciated their support.
Friday, all my siblings, including Michelle, and nieces and nephews were able to come to the convocation where we actually walked across the stage. Before the convocation everyone met for lunch at Red Robin. It was very tasty and good for everyone. Afterwards we went to take some more grad pictures with the family. It didn't seem like it took very long until Kyle and I had to go to the Marriott Center to check in to our seats. Not long after Kyle and I sat down we were moving again to go sit on the floor and then before I knew we were walking across the stage. It was a cool experience to be able to do it together. The long part was waiting for everyone else to walk across, but we made it. Afterwards we met up with our family and decided to go to a delicious place called Awful Waffle for some food. My nieces and nephews got a big kick out of the name of the place. Everyone mostly had waffles or crepes. Kyle and I were starving and got a pizza and frites. The frites were delicious as well as the bites of waffles we tried. Everyone enjoyed it so that was great.
And the concludes the two days of graduation. Really it was more like a week of doing activities with the family, but this is what happened on the actual days of graduation. It was fun while it happened, but I am glad it is over. Having so much family to want to spend time with can be stressful and hard to juggle, but it was fun while it lasted and happy we got to spend time with everyone!
